Monica Allen is the Associate Vice Chancellor, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Litigation Counsel for Washington University. Ms. Allen's practice responsibilities for the University cover a wide spectrum of business and litigation matters. She is primarily responsible for managing litigation and the Danforth campus business law and campus life legal matters. She also works on commercial and general corporate matters for the University.
Prior to joining the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel, Ms. Allen was a partner at Haar & Woods, LLP in St. Louis, Missouri where she specialized in professional liability and general commercial litigation. She previously worked as a Senior Attorney for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and as an Associate with Kohn, Shands, Elbert, Gianoulakis and Giljum, LLP. She also served as a law clerk to The Honorable Jean C. Hamilton, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
Ms. Allen is a three-time graduate of Washington University in St. Louis (B.A. 1980, M.A. 1985 and J.D. 1992). She is a member of the Missouri Bar, the American Bar Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
