Kristin Byrd is Assistant Vice Chancellor and Associate General Counsel at Washington University. Her legal practice covers a broad range of healthcare matters, including medical professional liability and litigation management, clinical practice and HIPAA issues, clinical studies agreements and graduate medical education issues. Ms. Byrd received her B.S. in philosophy, magna cum laude, from Radford University, and her J.D. from Mercer University School of Law.
Ms. Byrd began her legal career at Armstrong Teasdale LLP where she worked for almost ten years, during which time she specialized in medical malpractice and healthcare litigation and rose from associate to partner. Prior to joining the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel Ms. Byrd served as the Director of Claims and Litigation Counsel for Ascension Health, the nation's largest nonprofit healthcare system.
Ms. Byrd is a member of the Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, and District of Columbia Bar Associations. She is also a member of the American Bar Association (Health Law Section), the American Health Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
