Retention of Counsel
The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel is the legal counsel for the University and its affiliated entities. Accordingly, all requests for legal assistance related to the University's operations should be directed to the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel. The decision to retain outside counsel rests solely with the OGC. The OGC considers a number of factors when making a determination to engage outside counsel, including cost and the subject matter of the representation. Faculty, staff and students may not employ outside attorneys to represent or provide legal services to the University or its affiliated entities. Additionally, all communications from outside attorneys should be referred to the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel.
